Great Falls Small Business Development Center Regional Director Wins National Award for Excellence

Friday, May 4, 2018/Categories: Market MT, Small Business Development Center Network

Jason Nitschke

Jason Nitschke, regional director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in Great Falls, has been named the 2018 Montana “State Star,” a national award recognizing outstanding performers from America’s Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC).

Criteria to win the award include exemplary performance, significant contributions to the program and a strong commitment to small business.

“Jason takes our program to the next level by going above and beyond for his clients every day,” said SBDC State Director Chad Moore. “Montana entrepreneurs not only benefit, but thrive, through his consulting.”

Nitschke’s office at host organization Great Falls Development Authority provides customized one-on-one consulting and training to start-up and existing businesses in a nine-county region, including Cascade, Fergus, Glacier, Judith Basin, Pondera, Teton, and Toole counties.

“Jason continues to develop new skills, tools and trainings to set the stage for even greater future results,” said Great Falls Montana Development Authority President & CEO Brett Doney.

Nitschke joined the SBDC in 2014. In his tenure, he has consulted 366 clients, assisted with starting 45 businesses and secured $42 million in financing. Nitschke’s impact is felt among his peers and with his clients. For two consecutive years his center has been named the “Top Performing Center” in the network, and his colleagues turn to him when they need help refining processes, strategizing, and mentoring new advisors. Jason continually exceeds all program goals, and hosts Boots to Business classes at Malmstrom Airforce Base. Jason has operated two small businesses, empathizing with struggles entrepreneurs face, and cheering them to success.

“I was in very unfamiliar waters knowing what the bank needed to put the deal together. If Jason wasn’t there I wouldn’t have been able to do any of that,” said Raegan Breeden, Owner of Play ‘N’ Learn in Great Falls.

Nitschke was honored at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) awards on May 3 at Camelot Ranch in Billings with 10 small businesses, lenders and partners. All 2018 State Stars will be nationally announced at The 38th Annual America’s SBDC Conference that will take place September 4-7, 2018, in Washington, D.C.
